DHAKA, March 28, 2026 (BSS) - LGRD and Cooperatives Minister and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Dilara Hafiz, wife of Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, Bir Bikram. 

In a condolence message, the minister conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family members and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.

He said Dr Dilara Hafiz was a distinguished educationist and a former chairman of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education. As an ideal woman, she inspired her husband and children in their good deeds and political activities, he added.

The minister also prayed to Almighty Allah to grant her forgiveness and give strength to the grieving family to bear the irreparable loss.

Dilara Hafiz, a former Director General (DG) of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) and former Principal of Eden Mohila College, passed away today at the age of 78 while undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital.
