Despite challenges, govt makes strides to keep agri sector unaffected: Zahid

DINAJPUR, April 24, 2026 (BSS) - Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Minister Prof. Dr. Abu Zafar Md. Zahid Hossain today said the government is working to ensure that the country's agricultural sector remains unaffected despite global challenge.

He made the remarks at seeds and fertilizers distribution programme, organized by the local office of Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) at Birampur upazila parishad in the district.

The minister said the government is working to improve the overall livelihood of farmers.

The government efforts are not limited to Family Card, Farmers Card, or loan waivers programmes rather it is implementing various other initiatives to ensure farmers' overall development, he mentioned. 

At the event, mung bean seeds and fertilizers were distributed among 20 farmers, while five farmers received beehives.

Birampur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tanzina Khatun, Upazila Agriculture Officer Kamal Krishna Roy, and other local administration officials were present.
