DINAJPUR, May 27, 2026 (BSS) - Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Minister Professor Dr AZM Zahid Hossain today said no perpetrators of child or women abuse should be given shelter or leniency, as they are the enemies of the society.

He made the remark while distributing assistance and cheques to destitute, helpless, sick, disabled people and poor students at the Hakimpur Upazila Parishad auditorium.

The minister said, “The government will not tolerate any form of child abuse or violence against women. No support should be given to the perpetrator of child or women abuse. They will not be spared under any circumstances.”

He said the present government has taken very strict measures against incidents of child and women abuse. Law enforcement agencies will not show any leniency towards drug offenders, perpetrators of child and women abuse, and eve-teasers.

The minister said huge amount of crops had been damaged by cyclones. The government would provide assistance within its capacity to those affected, he added. 

Hakimpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tanjila Khatun presided over the function.

The minister distributed 10 kilograms of rice each among 400 families and handed over cheques to students from 10 poor families.

Hakimpur Upazila Social Service Officer Md Sohel Rana, Hakimpur Upazila BNP President Md Ferdousur Rahman and General Secretary Md Sakhawat Hossain Shilpi, among others, were present at the event.
