5-day training begins for newly appointed teachers at CU

CHITTAGONG UNIVERSITY, June 29, 2026 (BSS) - A five-day training workshop titled "Foundation Training Program for Professional Development" for newly appointed teachers from different departments and institutes of the Chittagong University (CU) has begun under the initiative of the university's Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).

The training programme, scheduled from June 28 to July 2, was inaugurated this morning at the virtual classroom of the faculty of engineering.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Amin was the chief guest, while Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admin) Prof. Dr. Md. Safiqul Islam attended as the special guest.

The inaugural session was chaired by IQAC Director Prof. Dr. Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain. 

The programme was coordinated and moderated by Additional Director (Quality Assurance) Prof. Dr. Dr. Shahadat Hossain and Additional Director (Excellence in Teaching and Learning) Prof. Dr. Mohammad Muslem Uddin. The training sessions will be held daily from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Addressing the programme, the chief guest said, "This programme is very important and timely. Outcome-based education (OBE) has already been introduced at our university, increasing the responsibilities of teachers. Such a programme was essential for the newly recruited teachers."

Speaking as the special guest, Prof. Dr. Md. Safiqul Islam said, " A foundation programme like this is essential for teachers to acquire knowledge on various academic and professional issues. Teachers must enhance the quality of education and research and remain conscious of effective classroom teaching."
