One dies of measles-like symptoms

DHAKA, July 7, 2026 (BSS) - One more child has died from measles-like symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). 

During the same period, 819 new suspected measles cases were reported nationwide, while 173 confirmed measles cases were recorded, a DGHS press release said today. 

The release said a total of 90,522 suspected measles patients have so far been admitted to hospitals across the country. Of them, 86,844 have recovered and been discharged after receiving treatment.

Since March 15, a total of 649 patients have died from measles-like symptoms, while 93 deaths have been confirmed as measles-related.

The DGHS said the total number of suspected measles cases has reached 107,384, while the cumulative number of confirmed cases now stands at 12,964.
