JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, July 8, 2026 (BSS) - Jahangirnagar University (JU) is likely to form a committee to assess the feasibility of establishing a
divisional admission test centre in Rangpur after the region was left out of its initial plan and students from northern region of the country expressed concern over the exclusion.

JU Pro-VC (Academic) Professor Dr Md Shamsul Alam told BSS today that the committee would be formed soon after discussions with the Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan.

"The matter is now under process, and I hope a team will also visit Rangpur," he said.

The proposed centre is expected to ease the burden on admission seekers from the northern districts by reducing travel and accommodation costs.

Earlier today, the university formed four sub-committees to collect information on divisional-level admission test management from the University of Chittagong, University of Rajshahi, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology and Khulna University as part of its plan to introduce divisional admission tests from the 2026-2027 academic session.

The sub-committees have been asked to submit their reports within 15 working days.
