Student-friendly assessment system vital for quality higher education: KUET VC

KHULNA, July 8, 2026 (BSS) - Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Maksud today said an effective, transparent and student-friendly assessment system is essential for ensuring the quality of higher education.

He was addressing a workshop as the chief guest on the KUET campus, organised by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) on "Policy and Implementation of the Midterm Examination System for Undergraduate Programmes."

The Vice-Chancellor said the proper implementation of the midterm examination system would strengthen continuous assessment and make a significant contribution to improving students' academic performance. 

He also called for sincere cooperation, accountability and responsible participation of all stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the system.

Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering Professor Dr. Khandakar Mahbub Hasan, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Professor Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam and Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Professor Dr. Mohammad Sultan Mahmud attended the programme as special guests.

Moderated by Professor Dr. Kazi Hamidul Bari of the Civil Engineering Department, Professor Dr. A. B. M. Awlad Hossain and Professor Dr. Kazi Mostafizur Rahman gave presentations on the policy framework, implementation strategies and practical aspects of the proposed midterm examination system.

The workshop was chaired by IQAC Director Professor Dr. A. B. M. Awlad Hossain, who highlighted the objectives and significance of the initiative and called for the active cooperation of all stakeholders to ensure its effective implementation.

Heads of departments and faculty members from different departments of the university participated in the workshop, where detailed presentations, discussions and exchanges of views were held on the policy framework, assessment process, implementation strategies and practical application of the proposed midterm examination system.
