1 dengue patient dies, 338 hospitalized in last 24 hrs

DHAKA, July 21, 2026 (BSS) - Health officials today said they recorded 338 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts killing at least one person in the past 24 hours.

"During the period, (of the 338) 76 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division, 66 in Chattogram division, 18 in Dhaka division, 76 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 41 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 34 in Khulna division, 11 in Mymensingh division, six in Rajshahi division and 10 in Rangpur division, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts Bangladesh this year witnessed so far 38 deaths while the disease inflicted 11,195.

The dengue last year claimed 413 lives and inflicted 1,02,861 people in the country.

Besides, the dengue claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in 2024.
