DHAKA, July 21, 2026 (BSS) - BNP Senior Joint Secretary General and Political Adviser to the Prime Minister Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today said BNP and its associate bodies - Juba Dal, Chhatra Dal, Shramik Dal and Swechchhasebak Dal emerged in continuation of the historic November 7 Sepoy-People’s Revolution.

“The party was born with the aim of establishing multi-party democracy and the right to freedom of speech and the party inherently carries the spirit of revolution,” he said while speaking at a prayer gathering (doa mahfil) for late Zakir Hossain Nannu, a former vice-president of Juba Dal, held at the BNP's central office in the city's Naya Paltan.

Rizvi urged the party leaders and activists to move forward by upholding the party's ideals, believing not in despair but in hard work.

Praising various development initiatives of the current government, Rizvi said, the government is expanding the scope of family card and distributing farmer card.

He said that when the benefits of these efforts reach the people in a year or two, the sacrifices of people like Zakir Hossain Nannu will be fulfilled.

Referring to the arrest of ex-Major Mozaffar Hossain after 45 years, the killer of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, Rizvi criticized impunity and conspiracies.

BNP Joint Secretary General Advocate Abdus Salam Azad MP, Voluntary Affairs Secretary Mir Sarafat Ali Sapu, Central Juba Dal President Abdul Monayem Munna, General Secretary Nurul Islam Nayan, along with other party leaders took part in the event.
