7 more children die with measles-like symptoms

DHAKA, June 03, 2026 (BSS) - Seven more children have died with measles symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours, while the total number of infected patients during the period stood at 1,265, according to a press release of Central Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) here today.

According to the release, the number of suspected measles patients recorded in the last 24 hours was 1,210, while the total number of suspected measles cases from March 15 to June 3 reached 74,572.

During the same 24-hour period, 55 confirmed measles cases were reported, bringing the total number of confirmed cases since March 15 to 9,191.

From March 15 to June 3, a total of 60,158 suspected measles patients were admitted to hospitals, while 55,942 patients recovered and were discharged during the same period.

No deaths from confirmed measles were reported in the last 24 hours. Since March 15, a total of 90 deaths have been recorded from confirmed measles.

Meanwhile, seven deaths were reported on suspicion of measles in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of deaths from suspected measles to 511 since March 15.

So far, the highest number of suspected measles cases has been reported in Dhaka Division, where 35,023 people were suspected to have contracted the disease. Of them, 6,426 were confirmed as measles patients.
