Four to die for murder in Narayanganj

NARAYANGANJ, May 6, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced four people to 
death and two to life-term imprisonment for killing a man in the city in 
2021.

Judge of Additional District and Sessions Judge Court-4 Mohammad 
Akhtaruzzaman Bhuiyan pronounced the verdict this afternoon.

The death-row convicts are-- Md. Iqbal Hossain, 37, son of Abdus Samad Munshi 
of Sonargaon Barumdi area of Narayanganj, Md. Swapan, 49, son of Nur Islam of 
Bandar, Saymon alias Yunus Mia, 26, son of Md. Abdul Mannan of Muradnagar in 
Cumilla district and Anwar Hossain Sunny, 27, son of Muhitur Rahman of 
Kamalganj area in Moulvibazar district.

Those sentenced to life-imprisonment are Md. Russell Hossain, 27, of Bangara 
Bazar area in Cumilla and Md. Hasan Al Mamun, 22, of Muradnagar area.

Although the convicted accused Russell Hossain is absconding, the rest were 
present in the court when the verdict was announced. 

Additional Public Prosecutor of the court Machuda Begum Shampa said, on the 
afternoon of October 14, 2021, Haqar Zubair was stabbed to death due to a 
dispute over setting up a shop on the sidewalk in front of Balaka Petrol Pump 
on Bangabandhu road in Narayanganj city. 

Mother of the deceased Mukta filed a case with Sadar Model Police Station 
accusing eight people. 

The court also acquitted two people as the charges of the case against them 
were not proven.
