Illegal Indian goods worth Tk 98 lakh seized in Cumilla

CUMILLA, May 7, 2025 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized illegal Indian goods worth Tk 98 lakh during an anti-smuggling operation in the Khanjani border area under Burichang upazila of the district early this morning. 

According to Lt. Col. Md. Ziaur Rahman, Commander of the BGB's Sultanpur Battalion (BGB-60), the operation was conducted around 5am, during which the items were recovered in an abandoned condition near the border.

The seized goods include a large consignment of illegal Indian mobile phone displays and fireworks worth Tk 75.60 lakh, along with basmati rice, other food items and rice worth Tk 22.41 lakh.
