DHAKA, May 7, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today imposed a travel ban on former State Minister for Housing and Public Works Sharif Ahmed for the sake of investigation of a case filed against him.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Ghalib issued the order today following an application by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), saying he has been barred from leaving the country.

The application states that a case has been filed against Sharif Ahmed for abusing his power and acquiring assets worth over Taka 3.83 crore, keeping those for his own use and transferring and converting illegally acquired funds worth Tk 42.68 crore through suspicious transactions.

The case is currently under investigation, court sources said, adding that for the smooth probe of the case, it is necessary to cancel Sharif's travel abroad.
