Ex-MP's brother Nadim arrested in murder case

DHAKA, May 8, 2025 (BSS) - Police arrested Nadim Mahmud, accused in multiple murder case and brother of former Dhaka-18 lawmaker and Dhaka North Awami League joint general secretary Habib Hasan, from the city's Bashundhara area early today.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Uttara Pashchim Police Station, Hafizur Rahman confirmed the arrest to BSS.

Nadim was accused in multiple murder cases during July uprising. Police arrested him around 12.30 pm during a drive, the OC said.

Following the arrest, police produced him before the court with a petition seeking remand for further interrogation. 
 
Police said that Nadim may provide critical information regarding the involvement of key suspects Habib Hasan, Sohel and Sathil in the violent incidents during the July uprising. 

The cases involve the killing of over 50 individuals in a series of attacks targeting protesting students and civilians.

Local residents expressed their satisfaction over Nadim's arrest through social media posts and demanded swift apprehension of the remaining suspects.
