PANCHAGARH, May 8, 2025 (BSS) – National Citizen Party chief organizer (northern region) Sarjis Alam today said the interim government which stands on the blood of over a thousand martyrs and nearly fifty thousand injured has yet failed to ensure justice for a single killing or implement any fundamental reform.

“The interim government has yet to bring about even one basic structural reform. If they now proceed toward elections without addressing these fundamental issues, it will be a betrayal of the blood that has brought them to the power,” he told reporters after visiting Baro Awliya Mazar at Mirzapur union of Atwari upazila of Panchagarh.

Sarjis warned that any move towards elections without reforms would be a betrayal of the sacrifices made by the July martyrs.

Referring to former President Abdul Hamid, Sarjis questioned, “How did a former head of state manage to flee the country after nine months? Was he allowed to leave, or did he escape? Abdul Hamid enjoyed the highest privileges while in office and abused his power. His departure is a glaring failure of the interim government.”

Replying to a journalist’s query, Sarjis criticized the growing trend of politically motivated false cases, saying, “The biggest political weapon now is false accusation. We demand visible justice against those who aided the fascist Awami League. However, we do not support the harassment of innocent individuals.”

He stressed that filing false cases against innocent people, regardless of their political affiliation, is unjust. “If someone hasn't committed a crime or abused power, why should they be falsely implicated?” he asked.
