Shafiqur Rahman pays tribute at Barrister Abdur Razzak's grave

DHAKA, May 8, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman, accompanied by senior party leaders, visited the grave of former assistant secretary general Barrister Abdur Razzak at Azimpur Graveyard in the capital early this morning following Fajr prayers.

He prayed for the salvation of the departed soul.

During the visit, Shafiqur Rahman urged lawyers to uphold the ideals of Barrister Razzak in the pursuit of justice and resistance against fascism.

Speaking to the media, he stressed the importance of ensuring justice for the victims of the 2024 July Uprising.

He said doing so would help prevent fascism in future. 

He also expressed hope that party leader ATM Azhar would be acquitted and allowed to return to politics.

The Jamaat chief further voiced optimism about the party regaining its registration, asserting that no other political group has faced such sustained repression.

Central executive council member and Dhaka metropolitan south Ameer Md. Nurul Islam Bulbul, central Majlis-e-Shura member and Dhaka metropolitan south assistant secretary Dr. Abdul Mannan were present, among others.
