Court orders confiscation of Benazir daughter’s property in Dubai

DHAKA, May 8, 2025 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today ordered confiscation of property and money of former police chief Benazir Ahmed’s daughter in Dubai, a ruling to be sent to appropriate authorities in the UAE.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib issued the order sought by the ACC, which said they would send a copy of the ruling to the authorities in the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) capital.

The graft body alleged former inspector general of police (IGP) Ahmed’s daughter Tahseen Raisa Binte Benazir owned an apartment worth of AED or Dirham 4 million (AED1=Tk33) and amount of AED 1,44,497 deposited in two accounts of financial services in Dubai.

The ACC said since investigations into the graft allegation against her was underway for allegedly earning Tk 5,59,55,085 in collaboration with her father beyond known source of her income, the confiscation was required.

The court granted the application and issued the order.

According to the ACC plea, the graft body would send a copy of the court order to the chairman of Dubai Land Department and Group Chief Executive Officer, Emirates NBD of Dubai, a leading financial services brand.
