Bangladesh Navy continues operations to stop illegal fishing

DHAKA, May 8, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Navy has continued special operations to stop all sorts of fishing by vessels in the sea and coastal areas to ensure proper reproduction and conservation of sustainable marine fisheries resources in the country's maritime waters.

During the drive, Bangladesh Navy ship 'Banouja Surma' seized six fishing trawlers in Cox's Bazar in the Bay of Bengal during a regular patrol yesterday, said an ISPR press release.

After searching the seized trawlers, 103 fishermen and 13,500 pieces of hilsa, 85 kgs of other species of fish and 4.55 lakh meters of net were seized.
