JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, May 9, 2025 (BSS) - A group of Jahangirnagar University students staged a demonstration today, demanding a ban on the Bangladesh Awami League for committing crimes against humanity during the July Uprising 2024.

Protesters assembled a procession around 12:45 am from the university's Bot Tola area and marched towards the main entrance of the university.

Following the procession, they enforced a blockade on Dhaka-Aricha highway around 1:00 am, which lasted for half an hour.

Arifuzzaman Uzzal, a postgraduate student of the Marketing department, said, "The mass murderers Awami League (AL) have no right to do their politics in this country. If any group attempts to rehabilitate the Awami League in any form, the students and the masses will produce the same verdict against them that was produced against Awami League and Sheikh Hasina."

Jahidul Islam Bappy, an honours final year student of the English department, criticized the ill-motivated efforts of the Awami League (AL) to destabilize the country and called for the interim government to ban AL as soon as possible to prevent chaos.

Touhid Siam, a postgraduate student of the International Relations department, moderated the programme.
