Zubaida, Sinthi visit Arafat Rahman's grave

DHAKA, May 10, 2025 (BSS) - BNP founder Ziaur Rahman and three-time former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia's daughters-in-law Dr. Zubaida Rahman and Syeda Shamila Rahman Sinthi today visited the grave of Zia's younger son Arafat Rahman, also husband of Sinthi, at Banani graveyard in the capital this morning.

Zubaida, wife of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman, and Sinthi offered prayers and recited from the Holy Quran at the grave of prominent sports organizer Arafat Rahman Koko.

The security of Zubaida Rahman is being overseen by Brigadier General Dr. AKM Shamsul Islam (Retd) through CSF members (BNP Chairperson Security Force). 

BNP's Dhaka Divisional Assistant Organizing Secretary Nazrul Islam Azad, BNP Media Cell member Atiqur Rahman Rumon and Ziaur Rahman Foundation (ZRF) Director Dr. Shah Muhammad Aman Ullah were present at the time.

Arafat Rahman Koko was born in Dhaka in 1969. He studied at BAF Shaheen College in Dhaka. When Ziaur Rahman moved to Dhaka with his family in 1969, after staying in Joydevpur for a few days, he lived in the Sholosahar area of Chattogram due to his father's job.

Arafat Rahman was a member of the Bangladesh Cricket Board's advisory council from 2003 to 2005.

Koko died of a heart attack in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on January 24, 2015. 

He is survived by his wife Sharmila Rahman Sinthi and two daughters, Zafia Rahman and Zahia Rahman.
