Former MP Shamima, Sheikh Hasina's ex-APS Bitu arrested in Jigatola

DHAKA, May 10, 2025 (BSS) - Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested a former female lawmaker and ex-assistant press secretary of the ousted Prime Minister from the city's Jigatola area today.

The detainees include - Krishak League leader and former lawmaker Advocate Shamima Akhter Khanam and former assistant press secretary to ex-premier Sheikh Hasina Ashraf Siddiqui Bitu.

Deputy Commissioner of DB Muhammad Talebur Rahman told BSS that they were arrested in two separate raids at Jigatola this noon.

The detainees were accused in multiple cases of July uprising, he said.
