Ex-MP Selina, Juba Mohila League leader Nargis sent to jail

DHAKA, May 10, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today ordered to send former lawmaker Selina Islam and Madaripur Zila Juba Mohila League president and former vice-chairman of Madaripur Sadar upazila Nargis Akhter to jail in connection with a case of Sher-e-Banglanagar thana.

Selina Islam is also the vice-president of Cumilla Uttar Zila Awami League and wife of former parliament member from Laxhmipur-2 constituency Kazi Shahid Islam Papul.
 
Sher-e-Banglanagar Thana police today produced them before the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) and prayed for their confinement into jail till end of the investigation into the case lodged against them.

The lawyers of the accused also moved separate bail petitions before the court of Metropolitan Magistrate (MM) M Misbaur Rahman but the court ordered to send them to jail rejecting their bail petitions.

Earlier, police arrested them from separate locations in the capital.

Police on April 4 lodged a case under Anti-Terrorism Act with Sher-e-Banglanagar Thana accusing 14 to 15 leaders and activists of Bangladesh Mohila Awami League as the arrested women and their accomplices tried to bring out a procession against the interim government.
