Secretariat employees postpone tomorrow’s protest programmes

DHAKA, May 27, 2025 (BSS) – The employees of the secretariat have postponed tomorrow’s protest programmes opposing the ordinance amending the Public Service Act after meeting with several secretaries and receiving assurances.

The meeting was held today at the conference room of the land ministry with its secretary ASM Saleh Ahmed in the chair.

Secretary of the local government division Md. Rezaul Maksud Jahedi, Housing and Public Works ministry secretary Md. Nazrul Islam, youth and sports ministry secretary Md. Mahbub-ul-Alam, statistics and information management division secretary Alea Akter took part in the meeting, among others.

According to a press release of the land ministry, cabinet secretary asked the senior secretary of the land ministry and other secretaries to discuss the issue with the employees and after that they had talks with employees about their demands.

“We will inform the cabinet secretary about their demands tomorrow morning and after the meeting with us, the employees have agreed to postpone their tomorrow’s protest programme,” he said.

 Co-chairman of the Bangladesh Secretariat’s Officers-Employees United Forum Md. Nurul Islam also confirmed the matter, saying that they will not observe any protest programme tomorrow.
