Four held with three touchstone idols in city

DHAKA, May 28, 2025 (BSS) - The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested four persons with three touchstone-made idols worth about Tk 34 crore from the Baily Road area in the city.

The arrestees were identified as Md Jakir Hossain, 65, son of Shahruzzaman; Ahmad Mostofa, 44, son of Nazrul Islam; Md Anwarul Haque, 48, son of Abdul Aziz; and Habibur Rahman, 42, son of Abdur Rahim.

Acting on a tip-off, a team from RAB-10 conducted a raid in the area and arrested the four along with the rare stone-made idols, said Commander Mohammad Kamruzzaman of RAB-10.

The RAB personnel also recovered 110 bottles of foreign liquor from the spot.

A gang stored the idols and liquor in a warehouse collecting those from various parts of the country, he added.
