DHAKA, March 17, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Shipping and the Bridge Division Md. Rajib Ahsan today visited Shimulia Tourist Ghat to review preparations aimed at ensuring passenger services on waterways during the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Fitr.

Shipping Ministry Secretary Dr. Nurunnahar Chowdhury was present during the visit.

During the visit, the state minister inaugurated the operation of three passenger launches on the routes Shimulia-Demra-Narayanganj-Shatnol-Mohanpur-Ekhlasur-Chandpur and Shimulia-Demra-Narayanganj-Chandpur-Barishal from Shimulia Tourist Ghat.

The state minister instructed all concerned authorities to take necessary measures to ensure safe, comfortable and hassle-free journeys for homebound passengers during the Eid travel period. 

He particularly emphasized effective crowd management, strengthened security, maintaining discipline and improving overall service quality, urging officials to remain more vigilant.

Chairman of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), senior officials of the ministry, representatives of the local administration, senior police officials and other concerned personnel were present during the inspection.
