1.4 million people got legal aid services so far

DHAKA, Mar 28, 2026 (BSS)- A total of 14,18,840 people have so far received legal aid service at the government’s expense through the National Legal Aid Services Organization (NLASO).

The information was published in a report available on the organization’s official website, detailing legal aid services provided from 2009 to February 2026.

According to the report, legal support was extended in 4,60,297 cases to financially disadvantaged and underprivileged justice seekers during this period.

The report said that among the beneficiaries, 30,395 people received assistance through the Supreme Court Legal Aid Office,11,58,630 people through the legal aid offices from 64 districts and 30,009 persons through labor legal aid cells in Dhaka and Chattogram. 

Additionally, 1,99,806 people received legal services via the national toll-free legal aid helpline call center.

The legal aid services are provided under the Legal Aid Act to support financially insolvent and underprivileged citizens seeking justice. 

The activities of the organization are running under the supervision of the Ministry of Law Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
