
DHAKA, April 4, 2026 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized Indian smuggled goods worth approximately Tk 1.90 crore in separate operations along the borders of Brahmanbaria and Comilla districts.
According to BGB, the drives were conducted by the Sultanpur Battalion (60 BGB) in border areas under Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria and Brahmanpara and Adarsha Sadar upazilas of Comilla, based on specific intelligence.
The operations were carried out under the direction of Battalion Commander Lt Col SM Shariful Islam, involving patrol teams from Khadla BOP in Kasba, Shashidal BOP in Brahmanpara, and Barojwala BOP in Adarsha Sadar.
During the operations, BGB personnel seized a pickup vehicle along with a large quantity of smuggled Indian goods.
The confiscated items include cumin, henna, cosmetics, sarees, basmati rice, soap, fuchka, firecrackers, and various medicines.
The total estimated value of the seized goods stands at Tk 1,90,66,070.
BGB officials said the seized items are in the process of being handed over to the respective customs offices following legal procedures.
Lt Col Shariful Islam stated that BGB remains committed to ensuring border security and preventing smuggling, in line with the directive of the BGB Director General.
He added that intelligence surveillance and operational activities have been strengthened and such efforts will continue in the future.
