Mobile court seizes govt allocated jute seeds

SIRAJGANJ, April 04, 2026 (BSS)- A mobile court here today has seized 230 packets of government allocated jute seeds and fined two persons for possessing the seeds illegally.

Acting on a tip-off the mobile court conducted the raid at Kazipur upazila of Sirajganj and seized the jute seeds.

The mobile court detained Abdus Salam, a block supervisor from Charburungi village and Golai, a shopkeeper from Bhanudanga village and later released they after realizing fine.
 
Kazipur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Mostafizur Rahman said Abdus Salam was fined Taka 50,000 and Golai was fined Taka 40,000 under the Seed Act, 2018. In default they would serve one month imprisonment each.

However, both paid the fines on the spot and were released after giving written assurances not to repeat such offences.
