Democracy must be protected: Whip Dulu

DHAKA, April 4, 2026 (BSS) - Jatiya Sangsad Whip M Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu today emphasized that democracy, achieved at the cost of blood, must be protected.

"Restoring democracy was possible through the long 17-year democratic movement and the sacrifices of the people," he said while speaking at an Eid reunion and award ceremony for eminent personalities, organized by the Natore District Journalists' Association at the Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka.

Dulu said the current government supports reforms outlined in the July Charter and that these reforms can be implemented through parliamentary debate.

He urged journalists to work together to turn the Natore town as a prosperous one. 

Abdul Aziz, MP from Natore-4, and Anwarul Islam Anu, MP from Natore-3, also spoke at the event, which was conducted by former health secretary Saidur Rahman.
