ICT probe body to interrogate ex-DIG Abdul Jalil

DHAKA, April 5, 2026 (BSS) – The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 today allowed a prosecution petition seeking permission to interrogate former Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Abdul Jalil Mondal in connection with a crimes against humanity case linked to the 2013 crackdown on Hefazat-e-Islam’s rally at Shapla Chattar in Motijheel.

The ICT-1 headed by Justice Golam Mortuza Mazumder passed the order after holding hearing on the plea filed by the prosecution.

The tribunal also set June 7 for submitting probe report in the case.

The first tribunal March 31 sent Jalil to jail, after showing him arrested in the case. He was  arrested by the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police on March 30 from the capital’s Sabujbagh area.
