DHAKA, April 6, 2026 (BSS): The ACC has submitted a probe report against Md Shafiqul Islam alias Sentu, a councillor of ward number -31 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) for acquiring wealth beyond his known sources of income.

The information was confirmed today by Anti-Corruption Commission’s (ACC) Deputy Director (Public Relations) Md. Akhtarul Islam.

According to the report, the investigation officer has recommended filing a case against the accused.

The probe found that Shafiqul Islam Sentu possesses total assets worth about TK 66.36 million against his liabilities of TK 23.17 million. After deducting the liabilities, his net assets stand at TK 43.19 million.

Additionally, his family and other expenditures were calculated at TK 12.01 million bringing the total of assets and expenditures to TK 55.20 million.

In contrast, his legitimate and acceptable sources of income amount to TK 29.65 million. This results in unexplained wealth of TK 25.55 million which is approximately 46.28 percent of his total assets.
The ACC report stated that, as a public representative, he appears to have misused his entrusted authority to acquire and enjoy such assets.

In this regard, approval has been sought from the commission to file a case under section 27(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004 and section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947.

The ACC said that the matter will be placed before the commission upon its formation of a committee for further investigation into the case.
