SHERPUR April 9, 2026 (BSS) - The election to the Sherpur-3 (Sreebardi-Jhenaigati) parliamentary constituency is being held today amid tight security.

To ensure a free, fair, and peaceful election, 16 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed to maintain law and order.

Under the supervision of BGB Mymensingh Sector and management of Mymensingh Battalion (39 BGB), the platoons are performing duties as both mobile and static forces in Sreebardi and Jhenaigati upazilas of Sherpur district.

According to the directives of the Bangladesh Election Commission, BGB personnel will remain deployed until April 11, conducting patrols and maintaining overall security.

As the constituency is a border-adjacent area, BGB members stationed along the border are also providing necessary support in the election process.

It is stated that the election was postponed on February 12 following the death of Jamaat candidate Nuruzzaman Badal.
