LGED-CReLIC holds workshop on loss and damage assessment

DHAKA, April 09, 2026 (BSS) - The inception workshop organized by the Climate Resilient Local Infrastructure Center (CReLIC) under the Climate Resilient Infrastructure Mainstreaming Project (CRIMP), implemented by the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), was held today in the seminar room at the LGED headquarters.

LGED Chief Engineer Md Belal Hossain addressed the workshop as the chief guest, with LGED Additional Chief Engineer and Director of CReLIC Md Azharul Islam in the chair.

Belal Hossain said that under this component of LGED, the database of post-disaster damage in three pilot districts—Satkhira, Bhola, and Barguna—and geospatial information will help in evidence-based risk identification, planning, and target-based investment decision-making.

In the presence of the participants, the team leader of the consulting firm NACOM-O-CREDS JV, Professor Dr Hasan Mahmud, presented the disaster damage data collection method and action plan.

Representatives from various departments, including the Department of Environment, Department of Meteorology, Department of Disaster Management, PWD, Water Development Board, and others, were present at the workshop and shared their opinions.

LGED Additional Chief Engineer Syeda Asma Khatun, Kazi Saiful Kabir, Md Wahiduzzaman, Supervising Engineer Md Akhtar Hossain, Md Golam Maula, CRIMP-CReLIC Project Director Md Abdul Khalek, CReLIC Executive Engineer Fatema Ismat Ara, Assistant Engineer Arpan Pal, and CReLIC expert consultants were also present at the event.
