
DHAKA, April 19, 2026 (BSS) - The first meeting of the Library Committee of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad was held today at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with Committee Chairman and Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal in the chair.
Committee members Whip A.B.M. Ashraf Uddin (Nizan), Dr. Md. Mahabubur Rahman, Mir Ahmad Bin Quasem, Humam Quader Chowdhury, A.B.M. Mosharraf Hossain, and Akhter Hossen attended the meeting.
At the outset, the Chairman welcomed all participants and read out the agenda. Following his direction, a presentation on the introduction to the Jatiya Sangsad Library was made, said a press release.
The meeting recommended placing on the table during parliamentary sessions an information booklet titled “Some Frequently Used Terms in Parliament,” prepared and published by the Parliament Secretariat Library.
The booklet contains explanations of important parliamentary terms such as Order of the Day, Introduction, Presentation, Rejection, Resolution, Annulment or Expunction, Lobby, Adjournment Motion, General Motion, Vote of Thanks, No-Confidence Motion, Ordinance, Petition, Quorum, and Walkout, aimed at informing Members of Parliament.
The committee also recommended arranging necessary training for Members of Parliament.
To facilitate easy access to information by searching names and constituencies of MPs, a sub-committee was formed with Humam Quader Chowdhury as convener and Mir Ahmad Bin Quasem as member to develop a comprehensive database.
Another sub-committee was formed to review allocations for MPs under UNDP projects, with A.B.M. Mosharraf Hossain as convener and Akhter Hossen as member.
The committee further recommended translating the book “Practice and Procedure of Parliament” into Bangla.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary of the Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat and other concerned officials.
