DMP acting commissioner urges citizens to share information to prevent crime

DHAKA, April 23, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Acting Commissioner Md. Sarwar today inaugurated the newly established Bosila Police Camp and later joined the 'Open House Day' program at Mohammadpur Police Station, where he stressed the importance of citizens sharing information confidentially to help control crime. 

The inauguration ceremony of the police camp was held this afternoon in Bosila, Dhaka. 

After formally opening the camp, the acting commissioner visited the facility and expressed firm optimism that the new police camp, established under the initiative of the DMP, would play a significant role in ensuring the safety and security of local residents.

Later, he attended the Open House Day event at Mohammadpur Police Station as the chief guest.

In his speech, Md Sarwar said the police are firmly committed to making services more people-friendly and public-oriented. 

He urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement by informing the police of any criminal activities.

Giving special importance to public cooperation, he called upon city residents to confidentially provide information to the police to ensure public safety and control crime. 

He stressed that confidential information from citizens can play a crucial role in preventing criminal activities and maintaining law and order in the metropolitan area.

The Open House Day discussion focused on key social and law enforcement issues, including drug abuse, gambling, juvenile gangs, eve-teasing, militancy, violence against women, misuse of social media, and the responsibilities of civil society in preventing social degradation.

During the event, the acting commissioner listened to various concerns raised by city residents and provided necessary guidance and directions.

Among those present at the event were Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) S N Md Nazrul Islam, Joint Police Commissioner (Crime) Md. Faruk Hossain, Commander of RAB-2 Khalidul Haque Howlader, Deputy Commissioner of Tejgaon Division Md. Ibne Mizan, Deputy Commissioner of Traffic-Tejgaon Division Md. Rafiqul Islam, along with senior police officials, business leaders of Mohammadpur Police Station area, representatives of civil society, educational institutions, political parties, and other distinguished guests.
