Ex-army officer sent to jail after remand in Tanu murder case

CUMILLA, April 25, 2026(BSS)- A court here today sent retired army officer Hafizur Rahman to jail in Sohagi Jahan Tanu murder case.

Hafizur Rahman was produced before the court after his three-day remand. 

Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Cumilla Abdullah Al Amin passed the order after hearing of the prosecution side.
According to the sources from the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), Hafizur Rahman was produced before the court of the CJM after being interrogated during the remand. 

Investigation Officer (IO) of the case stated that the information obtained during the remand will be verified before taking further legal action.

A PBI team arrested Hafizur Rahman, a retired senior warrant officer, from Keraniganj area in Dhaka district. 

This marks the first arrest in the case after nearly a decade, bringing renewed attention to the Tanu murder took place in 2016.
