687 cleaners in Mymensingh receive Eid gifts from PM's relief fund

MYMENSINGH, May 25, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 687 cleaners working under the Mymensingh City Corporation received Eid gifts as cash from the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund ahead of Eid, bringing joy to sanitation workers across the city.

The distribution programme was held on Monday afternoon at the Tarique Memorial Auditorium located in the city’s Town Hall premises.

According to officials, each cleaner from the 33 wards of the city corporation received Taka 5,000 as Eid gift. 

Speaking at the event, MCC Administrator Md. Rukunozzaman Rokon urged the cleaners to maintain cleanliness in a more organized manner. He instructed workers not to leave waste on roads after sweeping and said polythene bags would be provided to collect garbage in designated places for easy removal by waste collection vehicles.

“We want to keep the city clean together,” he said, adding that proper public services are essential to ensure citizens remain satisfied and continue paying taxes regularly.

He also expressed his commitment to improving the city’s overall cleanliness and civic management.

The programme was chaired by Acting Chief Executive Officer Sumana Al Majeed and moderated by Chief Waste Management Officer Shirin Sultana.

Among others present at the event were Chief Warehouse Officer AHM Ariful Islam, Regional Executive Officer Fouzia Nazneen, General Manager (Transport) Mohammad Rajib-ul-Ahsan, Chief Social Welfare Officer Sitesh Chandra Sarkar, Regional Executive Officer Nahid Hasan Khan, Chief Revenue Officer Nasreen Begum Setu, Executive Magistrate Zakir Hossain, Chief Health Officer HK Debnath and Superintending Engineer Zahurul Haque.
