BAGERHAT, July 9, 2026 (BSS) - Freedom fighter Md Shahajan Sheikh of South Shaildah village in Chitalmari upazila of the district died of old-age complications at his residence this morning and was laid to rest with state honour.

A guard of honour was accorded to him under the supervision of the Chitalmari upazila administration this afternoon. 

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Khadija Akter, Officer-in-Charge Md Shahidur Rahman and Upazila Freedom Fighters' Convener Abu Taleb Sheikh attended the ceremony. 

Shahajan Sheikh is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter. 
Special prayers were offered for the eternal peace of his soul.
