BAGERHAT, July 21, 2026 (BSS) - National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Organizer and Member of Parliament Hasnat Abdullah today said the Sheikh family would no longer be able to lead the country, saying the people had rejected them during the July mass uprising.

"The Sheikh family will no longer be able to lead this country. The people of Bangladesh have boycotted them forever through July uprising,” he said.

He made the remarks while addressing a meeting held at the Chitalmari Central Shaheed Minar under Chitalmari upazila as part of the NCP's " Desh Garte July Padayatra' ('July Walkathon for Building the Nation')" programme.

"I have come with the dream of building a new Bangladesh free from fascism. In this new Bangladesh, farmers, workers and people from all walks of life will enjoy equal civil rights. There will be no place for fascism in the country. Students and the people have driven out fascism through their sacrifices and the shedding of fresh blood," he said.

The meeting was presided over by Chitalmari Upazila NCP Chief Coordinator FM Shahriar Al Islam Jewel.

Following the meeting, Hasnat Abdullah led a "July March" that paraded through the main roads of Chitalmari.
