CHANDPUR, Jan 24, 2025 (BSS)-Youth marathon competition was held in Shahorasti of Chandpur with the participation of more than 500 men and women contestants on occasion of Festival of Youth. 

Upazila executive officer Yasser Arafat inaugurated the competition at the upazila complex field on Friday.

Around five hundred contestants out of six hundred men and women registered for the first time to participate in the marathon, keeping ahead the slogan of 'Let's change the country, change the world'.

The marathon started from the upazila complex premises and ended near walkway adjacent to Suchipara bridge after completing twelve kilometers run passing through Ayanatali bazar.

The winners -- fifty men and fifteen women in the marathon -- were given cash award, mementos, medals and certificates in various categories after the marathon run.

Upazila animal resources officer Dr. Maksud Alam, former upazila health and family planning officer Dr. Mohammad Mehedi Hasan Majumdar, Raujan upazila senior fisheries officer of Chattrgram Md. Alamgir Hossain and police officer-in-charge Mohammad Abul Basar, among others, were also present in the prize distribution ceremony, presided over by upazila executive officer Yeasir Arafat.After the marathon, the contestants participated in a fascinating cultural program.
