Chess team to participate in World Jr. Chess Championship next month

DHAKA, Jan 25, 2025 (BSS) – A four-member of Bangladesh chess team will take part in the World Jr. Chess Championship to be held in Serbia next month.

Talking to BSS today (Saturday), Bangladesh Chess Federation general secretary Md. Taibur Rahman said they have sent names of four players for registration in the championship.

He said national champion Monon Reza Neer, national junior champion Sakline Mostafa and FM Tahsin Tajwar Zia from the men’s group and Wadifa Ahmed from the women’s group will take part in the World Jr. Chess Championship.

The BCF general secretary informed the championship will be held in the end of February.

Meanwhile, after taking part in the World Jr. Chess Championship, the four players along with the grandmasters will move to Sri Lanka to take part in the Chess world cup qualifying which will be held in March in Sri Lanka, he informed.
