Kings blank Abahani 2-0 in BPL

DHAKA, May 2, 2025 (BSS)- Bashundhara Kings blanked Abahani Limited, Dhaka by 
2-0 goals in the Bashundhara Group Bangladesh Premier League football held at 
Bashundhara Kings arena in the capital today (Friday).

In the day's match forward Faisal Ahmed Fahim scored both the goal for Kings 
who led the first half by 1-0 goal.

Fahim opened an account for Kings scoring the first goal in the 16th minute 
and after the resumption he doubled the lead scoring the second goal in the 
49th minute of the match.

Abahani Limited, however tried their best to stage a fight back in the match 
but they could not score any in the remaining proceeding and eventually they 
had to leave the field with empty hand.   

Sohel Rana and Saad Uddin of Kings and Shahin Ahammad of Abahani were shown 
direct red cards by the referee in the 90+5th minute for their unsporting 
behavior in the match. 

With the day's win, the defending champions Bashundhara Kings, standing third 
position in the league table improved their tally with 24 points from 13 
matches while the traditional sky blue Dhanmondi outfit Abahani Limited, who 
stand second position in the league table, remained at their previous 
collection of 27 points playing the same number of matches.

Earlier, in the first leg, Abahani edged past Bashundhara Kings by a solitary 
goal held at Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla.

Saturday's matches: Fakirerpool Young Men's Club vs Chittagong Abahani 
Limited (3.45 pm) and Brothers Union vs Rahmatganj (3.45pm).
