Three chess players left for UAE

DHAKA, May 6, 2025 (BSS)- The open and women's sections of the Asian Individual Chess Championship that begins tomorrow(Wednesday) in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates.
 
Four Bangladeshi players are participating in the event. International Master Manon Reja Neer, FIDE Master Tahsin Tajwar Zia and FIDE Master Sakline Mostafa Sajid compete in open section while woman FIDE Master Noshin Anjum take part in women's section.
To participate in the championship FM Tahsin Tajwar Zia, FM Sakline Mostafa Sajid and WFM Noshin Anjum left Dhaka for Dubai today (Tuesday).

Earlier, on Monday last, IM Manon Reja Neer left Dhaka for UAE.

The games in both sections will be held in a nine-round Swiss-league format.

The top 12 players from the open section will get a chance to participate in the FIDE World Cup Chess Championship and the top three players from the women's section will get a chance to participate in the Women's Cup World Cup Chess Championship.

A total of 158 players, including 51 Grandmasters and 54 International Masters from various Asian and Australian countries and Russia are participating in the open category.

While 105 players, including two Grandmasters, 19 women's Grandmasters, 13 International Masters and 21 women's International Masters from various Asian and Australian countries and Russia are taking part in the women's category.
