THAKURGAON, May 8, 2025 (BSS) - Mirza Ruhul Amin memorial T20 cricket tournament was inaugurated through a fabulous ceremony at Shaheed Mohammad Ali Stadium here today (Thursday).

Thakurgaon additional district magistrate Sordar Mostafa Shaheen formally inaugurated the tournament as the chief guest by realizing balloons.

Tahkurgaon district BNP leaders Shoriful Islam, Mamun Ur Rashid and Noor-a-Shahadat Swajan were, among others, present in the inauguration ceremony.

On the first day, Thakurgaon Youth Club and Dinajpur Dominators participated in the meet. 

A total of 16 district teams, including Dhaka, Rajshahi and Pabna, are taking part in the tournament. 

Mentionable that Mirza Ruhul Amin (Chokha Mia) was a very popular and acceptable leader among the mass people of Thakurgaon. He was the architect of modern Thakurgaon and a former minister.

Mirza Ruhul Amin was the father of BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and BNP central leader former municipal mayor Mirza Faisal Amin, and the father-in-law of former army chief Lt. General Mahbubur Rahman.
