DHAKA, May 8, 2025 (BSS)—The visiting South African Emerging Women’s team confirmed the three-match one-day series against their Bangladesh counterpart with a match at hand after winning the second game by two wickets in a thrilling contest at Bir Shrestha Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram today.
Opting to bat first, Bangladesh Emerging Women’s team were wrapped for a meager 151 in 49 overs but with small total on the board, they fought hard to make the contest evenly.
The South African girls, however, held the nerve in the crunch moment to seal the deal in the last over as they reached 152-8 with four balls to spare.
Gandhi Papama Hlumela Jafta was the top-scorer for the South African side with 52 runs but it was Eliz Mari Max who drove the side to the victory serenely by hitting 31 not out.
Sanjida Akhter Meghla, Sabekun Nahar and Shorna Akter scalped two wickets apiece for Bangladesh.
Captain Sharmin Sultana Supta earlier was the top-scorer for Bangladesh with 59 while Farzana Yasmin made 44.
The third and final one-day match between the two sides in on Sunday.
The two teams will then move to Cox’s Bazar to play three-match T20 series.
