DHAKA, May 13, 2025 (BSS)- Bangladesh U-19 national football team defender Ashikur Rahman said they are only focusing their goal on semifinal and trying to win the match of the SAFF U-19 Championship scheduled for May 16.

“We have completed a training session today and we’ll get two more training sessions before the semifinal match… we are firm in our goal and try our best to win the semi-final, no matter which team our opponents are,” said Asikur during the team’s practice session at the NERIST ground, Nirjuli today (Tuesday), according to a message received here.

Central midfielder Samuel Raksam also echoed the same statement by saying that their only goal is to win the semifinal match.

Bangladesh U-19 team assistant coach Abhul Hossain said: “We have planned today's practice session with the semi-finals in mind….  we are not bothering about our opponents strategy rather we are only focusing on training … after today's match, it’ll depend on who will be our opponents, Nepal or India and we’ll plan our next practice session as accordingly.”

The assistant coach said he is hopeful that his team would able to cross the semifinal hurdle.

Meanwhile, after a full recovery session held on Monday last, the Bangladesh U-19 national football team returned to training held at the state of Arunachal Pradesh Yupia.

The training session was focused high in intensity and aimed at preparing the team for the upcoming semi-final match. The coaching staff worked on tactical setups, positioning and team coordination as the boys continued their push for glory in the tournament.
