DHAKA, May 14, 2025 (BSS) - After Dhaka venue, the Bangladesh Swimming Federation's (BSF) talent hunt program 'Bangladesh in search of the best swimmer' was held in the port city of Chattogram as the second venue today (Wednesday).
Seventeen swimmers were selected from five districts of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Rangamati, Khagrachari and Bandarban held at Chattogram Divisional Swimming Pool.
BSF general secretary Mahbubur Rahman Shaheen talking to BSS said they have got a good response of talent hunt program in Chattogram. He said compared to Dhaka they have got good swimmers in Chattogram.
Shaheen said the BSF is providing all kinds of facilities to those who will be finally selected in the talent hunt.
"We'll keep them in our own camp under our management. Their accommodation, food and schooling will be ensured. The biggest challenge in the talent hunt is arranging schooling for the children. Many swimmers do not take part in the talent hunt due to hampering of their study and parents are also found reluctance to send their children to talent hunt thinking that their studies will be hampered."
In that case, the president of our swimming federation, the chief of the navy, has given his school to us. The children who are ultimately selected will get the opportunity to study at the Navy School. I think no parent should miss this opportunity, he added.
At the closing ceremony, the swimmers who passed the event were given Yes Cards. BSF general secretary Mahbubur Rahman Shaheen handed over the Yes Cards.
The selection process is underway in two categories 9 to 11 years and 12 to 15 years. The BSF has identified fifteen venues to select swimmers from sixty four districts across the country.
Apart from Dhaka and Chittagong, the remaining thirteen venues are Chandpur, Sylhet, Kishoreganj, Khulna, Jessore, Kushtia, Pabna, Barisal, Madaripur, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Bogra and Chapainawabganj.
Earlier, 'Bangladesh in search of the best swimmer' began on May 10 last in Dhaka Mirpur swimming complex.
