Neer shares point with his Iranian rival in 8th round

DHAKA, May 15, 2025 (BSS)-Bangladesh's International Master and national champion Manon Reja Neer split point with Grandmaster Idani Pouya of Iran in the 8th or penultimate round of the open category in the Asian Individual Chess Championship which is now being held in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates.

The 8th-round games were held on Wednesday last evening. Neer played with white pieces against the Sicilian Defense of Grandmaster Idani Pouya and drew after 38th moves, said a press release. 

International Master Manon Reja Neer and FIDE Master Tahsin Tajwar Zia both secured four points each after the 8th or penultimate round. 

In the 8th round game, FIDE Master Tahsin Tajwar Zia defeated FIDE Master Sakline Mostafa Sajid. FIDE Master Sakline Mostafa Sajid earned three points. 

In the women's category, WFM Noshin Anjum drew with International Master Nomin-Erdene Davaademberel of Mongolia and bagged 3.5 points after the 8th round.
