Nepal earn third win in SAFF U-20 Women’s Championship

DHAKA, July 17, 2025 (BSS)- Nepal registered their third wins in the SAFFU-20 Women’s Championship thrashing all-losers Sri Lanka by 7-0 goals in their return match held at Bashundhara Kings arena in the capital today (Thursday).

In the day’s match, Kusum Khatiwada and Samikshya Magar scored a brace each while Purnima Rai, Sarira Kumari Nath and Birsana Chaudhary supported them with a lone goal each for Nepal in the one-sided affairs. 
With this win, Nepal raised their tally to nine points from four matches (equal with Bangladesh who have also nine points from three matches) while Sri Lanka yet to open their account playing the same number of matches.

Earlier, Nepal beat Bhutan 6-1, suffered 3-2 defeat to Bangladesh and thrashed Sri Lanka 7-1 while Sri Lanka lost 9-1 to Bangladesh, 5-0 to Bhutan and 7-0 to Sri Lanka.

Nepal will play their remaining group matches against Bhutan and Bangladesh on July 19 and July 21 respectively.
