Symbolic marathon held in Tangail

TANGAIL, July 18, 2025 (BSS) - A five-kilometer symbolic marathon, a long-distance foot race, was held in Tangail district today (Friday) by the initiative of the district administration to mark the "July Mass Uprising Day". 

 

Deputy Commissioner (administration) Shorifa Haque formally inaugurated the race by releasing balloons in front of the Deputy Commissioner's Office here.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Abdullah Al Mamun, Additional District Magistrate Mahbub Hasan, Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Nahida Akhter, government and private officials from various departments, July protesters and members of the martyrs' families were present there.

Earlier, on the day's morning, competitors from different areas gathered in front of the district administration office. 

The marathon race began at 7:15 am with the participation of nearly 700 competitors, including July protesters and family members of July martyrs.

The marathon race, which started in front of the district administration office, ended at Maulana Bhashani University of Science and Technology after passing through important roads of the city. 

Shahadat Hossain topped the marathon and Rakib became second position while Fahadul finished third position.
